About Ickworth
Ickworth Church is situated on the Ickworth Estate, the historic home of the Earls and Marquesses of Bristol. The Estate and most of the contents of the house were taken over by the National Trust in 1956.
The Rotunda
Today, the Rotunda's state rooms are open to the public, where some of the exquisite art treasures, silverware and books collected by the Hervey family over the centuries can be viewed.
The Rotunda basement was recently restored and visitors to 'Ickworth Lives' can experience first-hand what life was like for the servants who worked here between 1910 and 1939, preparing grand parties, shoots and other entertainments for the Hervey family and their guests.
The park and gardens
The formal Italianate garden, Victorian fern stumpery and walled kitchen garden, where much of the produce for the house was grown, are all open to the public. There are also over 1,800 acres of parkland at Ickworth, and a variety of walks and cycle trails explore the woodland, arable and wildlife habitats.
The West Wing at Ickworth
The West Wing remained empty for many years, and is now home to a restaurant, National Trust gift shop, toilets and other visitor facilities.
The Ickworth Hotel
The Hervey family lived in the East Wing from the late 1820s until 1996, and it has since been converted to a luxury family hotel with 27 bedrooms, two restaurants, a spa and treatment rooms, with separate apartments available in The Lodge.
